mercy blues...
Having worked for the past five months, in the same company, I've seen enough people coming our office tender letters. Some have worked over many years, and decided a change in career while others resigned working less than few months, and worse, some quitted after only a day. This is the first company I worked in my life, and it's leaving rate is higher than hiring rate. Startling facts, but it's real.
Gone were the days of merry-making in my department. Everyone at work pulls a glum face; and hardly jokes now. Wrinkles etched across their foreheads; making them older than ever. No one bothers what I do at my desk except occasional "spot checks" by the manager, who sits right behind me. But most of the time, he goes MIA now. He is not even here at the moment. Everyone seems to be the kind who will leave once they have a job offer somewhere. And, it happened today. Big boss G. tendered resignation. Few days later, he decided to take back his resignation letter because he missed out one important clause in the new contract and felt it is best to stay. What with a daughter on her way to the world... Stupid move, stupid result. Stupid man. Now director wants him to leave after a month.
Sometimes I wonder, are all adults skeptical at work? Why do they always like to be nice and friendly to people whom they don't really like, then at their backs keep badmouthing them. For courtesy's sake, maybe. But they look like a bunch of idiots sometimes.
Today I asked May a very philosophical question that (I myself couldn't believe I say that), “我们到底为什么工作?” I don't mean to ask why do we work, I wanted to know what exactly do we work for? Why are there people slog so hard at work, and it turns out they achieve nothing glamourous in life. My question's worth some pondering right? So don't say Huilin's dumb anymore. I'm a realist.
Let's be honest. We all work for the one and only, plain obvious reason - money.
(in the perspective of youths)
1) Dates.
Teenagers often say "有了爱情够了", I truly think they are idiots, whose brains got fried and blinded by the "power" of love. Insanity. If you really live for love, why do we do you get cash for dates with your boyfriend/girlfriend? Steal? Rob? Nowadays, the cheapest movie ticket costs $7 already and a simple meal at food court costs $6. Tell me, do you not need money? Unless you are using the pocket money your parents give you to treat your girlfriend/boyfriend this and that... But won't you feel a bit duh - using your parents' hard-earned money for own entertainment? Like my mom, she forbids my brother who is 2 years younger than me to get a girlfriend now; she thinks it is a waste of money. Reason? Most of the time, guys, being 'generous' like to pay for almost everything on their dates, and knowing my brother... He will spend everything on the girl if she has already accepted him... =X Anyway, going dutch seems a better choice for youths who are still surviving on pocket money. Don't you agree?
Let's not talk about money supporting the courting process because not everyone is in a relationship now. As I believe, there are many others out there, still single and available. XD So
let's switch to another channel.
